Fertility and endometriosis

The Endometriosis is a disease that is generated when part of the tissues that line the uterus or endometrial tissue are not expelled from the body, but fall into the abdomen and adhere to the tubes and ovaries, obstructing the natural ducts where the fertilization of eggs and sperm occurs.

In many cases, endometriosis does not generate any symptoms, however, if it is severe it can cause pain and even infertility.

Infertility caused by endometriosis: Causes

According to statistics, between 30% and 50% of women who suffer endometriosis can present infertility problems, because on the one hand the chances of implantation of the embryo are reduced and if the Endometriosis involves the fallopian tubes, fertilization of the oocyte is difficult. Treatment to restore fertility in the face of an endometriosis problem

The Endometriosis does not always have to affect fertility, but when it does, some treatment must be used to prevent this disease from having permanent consequences.
There are three types of treatment: medical, surgical, or a combination of both. And to know which one is appropriate, the specialist needs to detect to what degree the  endometriosis.

The grade is established by studying endometriotic implants: where they are located, how many there are, at what depth they are located and their size. According to this information, the  endometriosis as minimal, mild, moderate or severe.

The minimal or mild endometriosis, is managed through medications to reduce the symptoms associated with pain, if it has an impact on fertility, it will have to be managed surgically through laparoscopy, also recommended for moderate or severe cases of endometriosis.

If these treatments to manage infertility by endometriosis are ineffective, the best option for the patient is to resort to assisted reproduction techniques, such as In vitro fertilization, which will significantly increase your chances of getting pregnant.
