FOUNTAIN: Global Healthcare Accreditation
Founded in 1995, InSer is one of the leading fertility centers in Latin America, with four clinics in the Colombian cities of Medellin, Bogota, Cartagena, and Pereira. InSer’s clinic in Medellín, which obtained GHA accreditation on November 12, 2020, offers a series of specialized fertility treatments, including In Vitro Fertilization, Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI), Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD), Egg Donation, and Egg Vitrification, among others. InSer has helped thousands of couples around the world fulfill their dream of conceiving their children and living happier and healthier lives.
According to Dr. Juan Giraldo, international director of InSer: “Offering our patients humane and good quality care is our philosophy. That has been our commitment for 25 years. However, in order to continue improving and strengthening impeccable services for our international patients, we decided to seek accreditation in health tourism services granted by GHA. This has been a wonderful and extremely constructive experience. At GHA we find a group of brilliant, competent and experienced professionals, fully committed to carrying out detailed analyses, not only for our current condition but, more importantly, our potential for improvement. I believe that all the effort and work done to meet GHA standards will take us to a new level, not only in patient-oriented service, but as a regional player in the field of human reproduction.”
The Global Healthcare Accreditation (GHA) program was created with the goal of improving the patient experience for health tourists across the health tourism spectrum. The GHA standards, accredited by ISQua (through the International Society for Quality in Health Care External Evaluation Association), offer concrete and quantifiable benefits for patients, since they certify that a hospital or clinic has established processes designed according to the specific needs and expectations of health tourists, and are permanently monitored for their improvement. In addition, GHA represents a unique opportunity for healthcare organizations to not only adopt skills and competencies designed to strengthen their health tourism services, but also to have an impact on business performance.
Karen Timmons, Executive Director of the Global Healthcare Accreditation Program, stated, “InSer is the first healthcare provider to conduct the GHA accreditation process through a remote study that was initiated due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The virtual accreditation process was developed to ensure that communications, observations, and information transfers occur seamlessly, and that they maximize interactions between the evaluator and the client, with the intention that organizations perceive a level of usefulness similar to that which they would have received with the face-to-face study. We extend congratulations to InSer, one of the best fertility centers in the region, for achieving GHA accreditation and for its commitment to serving the needs of health tourism patients.”

About the Global Healthcare Accreditation (GHA) Program:
Founded in 2016, Global Healthcare Accreditation for Health Tourism Services is the only accreditation body that focuses exclusively on health tourism services. The international standards and professional norms for health tourism were developed with the advice of world-leading industry experts, such as suppliers, insurers and employers committed to establishing best practices in health and health tourism, who support healthcare providers to validate quality and patient experience, increase visibility and implement a sustainable business model for providers throughout the entire continuum of care in healthcare tourism. In 2019, GHA received accreditation from ISQua’s International Society for Quality in Health Care External Evaluation Association (IEEA).
