Low-complexity fertility treatments

Modern society would not be what it is today without the multiple investigations that have been developed around the field of human reproduction. For more than 40 years, specialists from various countries have been investigating how men and women with great challenges in their fertility and various related diseases, could form a family through the accompaniment of science and techniques that involve the extensive world of fertility.

And, although many people believe that they will only be able to become parents through very complex and expensive treatments, statistics show the opposite: 80% of couples who consult a specialist achieve pregnancy through low-complexity treatments, which are those where medical intervention is less and fertilization occurs within the woman’s body.

The most well-known low-complexity fertility treatments today they are Ovulation Induction and Artificial Insemination, two techniques perfectly studied over time and practiced in reproduction centers around the world. In these treatments, what is sought is to favor the conditions for pregnancy to be achieved by stimulating and synchronizing the woman’s fertile cycle or helping the meeting between the egg and the sperm and thus achieve pregnancy.

Ovulation induction

Female ovulation disorders are one of the main causes why a woman does not get pregnant in the short term. To treat this problem there is the low-complexity fertility treatment called Ovulation Induction, which consists of stimulating the ovaries so that they can expel the egg that will later be fertilized to achieve the desired pregnancy.

With this treatment, which is developed thanks to the administration of medications that have hormones similar to those that women naturally develop, what is sought is to monitor and control the menstrual cycle in favor of achieving pregnancy. To achieve pregnancy through ovulation induction, the doctor performs a series of ultrasounds from the first day of menstruation, the day on which the woman also begins to take hormonal medications.

Once the proper development of the follicles has been obtained, other medications are administered to achieve the final maturation of the eggs, and then, the most appropriate time is programmed to guide sexual relations in the couple, artificial insemination or recruitment for fertility treatment.

It is often necessary to perform one or two more ultrasounds to identify the day on which the ovary is going to ovulate and thus know which are the days with the highest probability of pregnancy.

Artificial insemination

One of the simplest techniques that exist within fertility treatments is precisely Artificial Insemination, a method that consists of depositing, by means of a catheter, sperm deep in the uterus and thus facilitating the arrival of pregnancy.

Prior to this procedure, the semen sample is taken to the laboratory where, through several specialized processes, the sperm with the greatest fertilization potential are selected, which will then be introduced deep into the uterus.

The success rate of each of the fertility treatments can vary. Low-complexity fertility treatments  They have a success rate of 50 to 60% in a cumulative four to six months.
